Sabra Janko

Turning Change Into Opportunity Attorney, Mediator and Child and Family Investigator with an emphasis on children and lowering conflict in family disputes. I focus on reaching agreement between parties, wherever possible, to benefit children, and am a zealous litigation advocate when desired. Sabra was the Chair of the Colorado Bar Association Military and Veterans Affairs Section in 2023 and is the current Chair of the El Paso County Bar Association Family Law Section. At the Colorado Bar Association, I set up and ran the inaugural Federal Pro Se Clinic and volunteer program assisting pro se litigants in the federal court system. At Legal Services of the Hudson Valley in New York, I provided civil legal services to low to moderate income military families and veterans to include family law and domestic violence, disability law, and public benefits appeals. Former Army JAG attorney, originally enlisted and attended the Defense Language Institute for Russian language as my first military assignment. While serving with the United States Army Judge Advocate General's Corps, I practiced in a variety of legal areas to include administrative and criminal law as well as legal services. I was a Paratrooper and served in Iraq and Jordan during Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation New Dawn. My last military assignment was as a Professor teaching military criminal, international and constitutional law to cadets at the United States Military Academy at West Point, New York. I volunteer at the Colorado Lawyers for Colorado Veterans Legal Clinic, and for Cub Scout Pack 34, Den 10. I am also a member of American Legion Post 206, the only all female American Legion post in Colorado. I have published five articles in two law journals, the Federal Lawyer, the Colorado Lawyer, and the Faculty of Federal Advocates Newsletter, as well as an American Bar Association monograph on mental disability and the law. I have given four presentations "Salute to Military Women" on the successes and challenges of women in the military, including one at the Museum of Flight in Seattle, WA.
