About Ashley Cannady

Ashley Eley Cannady graduated cum laude from the University of Mississippi with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and a minor in English. Ms. Cannady also graduated summa cum laude from the University of Mississippi School of Law, where she was an Eastland scholar. While in law school, Ms. Cannady received the American Jurisprudence Award in Contracts I, Contracts II, Civil Procedure II, Mississippi Civil Practice, and International Law. She was a member of the Mississippi Law Journal and served as its Symposium Editor. In addition, Ms. Cannady was a member of Phi Kappa Phi. Ms. Cannady regularly represents clients in contract disputes and business litigation. Ms. Cannady’s practice focuses on defending employers and management in employment-related disputes before courts and administrative agencies, including disputes involving allegations of discrimination, harassment, retaliation, wrongful discharge, failure to accommodate, FMLA interference, and other related state and common law claims. She provides advice to employers regarding avoidance of work-related legal exposure, including wage and hour issues, non-competition and non-solicitation covenants, personnel policies, leave issues, discipline and discharge matters, and NLRB issues. Additionally, she counsels human resources representatives regarding compliance with Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, the Family and Medical Leave Act, the Fair Labor Standards Act, the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Age Discrimination in Employment Act, and the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act. Ms. Cannady is a member of the American Bar Association, Mississippi Bar Association and Mississippi Women Lawyers Association. She is admitted to practice before all Mississippi State Courts, the United States District Courts for the Southern and Northern Districts of Mississippi, the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit, and the Supreme Court of the United States.
