My practice areas include Education, Governmental Entities, Insurance Defense, Labor and Employment, and Workers’ Compensation Defense. I have represented Boards of Education, their members, and their employees for over 19 years. In my capacity as general counsel for such Boards, I provide advice and litigation representation in several areas, including labor and employment, contracts, civil rights, and student matters.In 1992, I earned my B.A. in English from Birmingham Southern College, where I was a recipient of the South Central Bell Honors Scholarship. In 1996, I received my Juris Doctorate from Samford University’s Cumberland School of Law where I was a part of the Moot Court Board, an Associate Justice of the National Moot Court Team, and a member of the American Journal of Trial Advocacy.I am a former Vice-President of the Alabama State Bar Association and I currently serve as Disciplinary Hearing Officer and Bar Commissioner. I am also a former President of the Shelby County Bar Association. In 1996, I was admitted to the Alabama State Bar, the U.S. Eleventh Circuit Court, and the Northern, Middle, and Southern District Courts of Alabama. I am also affiliated with the Alabama Council of School Board Attorneys.
