Brad Tengler

I am a family law attorney based in Rockford, Illinois, representing clients in divorce, parenting time, custody, and complex family court matters. My work is centered on helping parents navigate one of the most difficult periods of their lives with clarity, steadiness, and a focus on the long-term well-being of their children. Family court can be an overwhelming and isolating experience, particularly for parents who are trying to remain strong, present, and deeply involved in their children’s lives. In my practice, I strive to help clients move through the legal process not only with effective advocacy, but with perspective, discipline, and a commitment to becoming the kind of parent their children need most. I am also the author of Fortress Father: How Good Men Become the Backbone Their Children Need in Divorce and Family Court. The book reflects lessons drawn from years of representing families in court, as well as my own reflections on fatherhood, resilience, and the responsibility parents carry during times of crisis and transition. I also host the Stay Present podcast, which offers a more personal look at the day-to-day realities of parenting. Through short, reflective episodes, I share real moments from raising my own children and explore the importance of staying grounded, engaged, and intentional—especially during challenging seasons. The podcast is not about legal strategy, but about helping parents slow down, reflect, and recognize that they are not alone in what they are experiencing. Outside the courtroom, I care deeply about helping parents remain grounded and engaged with their children during challenging seasons of life. My hope is that both my legal work and my writing provide support to parents striving to build stable, healthy families in the face of adversity.
