My practice is focused on employment litigation and advice. I am also a member of the firm’s Venture Capital & Emerging Businesses Industry Group. I have defended employers in complex class action suits, including those claiming violations of California and federal wage and hour laws, misclassification of independent contractors and exempt employees, and violations of the Fair Credit Reporting Act, ), the Investigative Consumer Reporting Agencies Act (ICRAA) and the Consumer Credit Reporting Agencies Act (CCRAA). I routinely advise employers on a wide range of compliance issues, including accessibility issues for disabled individuals, wage and hour issues, exempt employees, drug and alcohol policies, reductions in force, including compliance with the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act, absence policies, compliance with the Family and Medical Leave Act and California Family Rights Act, and employment application processes, including compliance with the Fair Credit Reporting Act. I provide employment due diligence advice on corporate and finance transactional matters. I conduct high-level, confidential workplace investigations for corporate clients with respect to discrimination, sexual harassment, fraud and theft complaints. I also conduct audits for corporate clients to ensure compliance with federal and state regulations governing the work place. I draft employee handbooks and individual employment policies spanning a diverse range of issues. I also develop and conduct training seminars for clients’ human resources personnel and in-house counsel.
