Renee Smith

Renee Nunley Smith is a Principal at Jackson Lewis P.C. Renee helps employers resolve personnel disputes when they arise, both inside and outside the courtroom. She routinely provides advice on basic and complex discrimination and harassment issues, as well as a host of other issues arising under Title VII, the Age Discrimination in Employment Act, the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Family and Medical Leave Act, the Fair Labor Standards Act, and similar state and local laws. When called for, she vigorously defends employers in administrative proceedings, arbitrations, and state and federal litigation. Renee also provides employment counsel to educational institutions, from independent schools to colleges and universities. She advises on school operations, including responding to and investigating alleged student misconduct; employment and governance matters; and crisis management. In the area of Title IX and sexual violence complaints, Renee conducts third-party investigations from inception to hearing, responds to complaints filed with the Department of Education’s Office of Civil Rights, conducts Title IX policy audits, and advises universities on Title IX compliance.
