James Urban

I represent and counsel employers regarding complex employment and traditional labor matters. I have successfully tried employment discrimination claims before state and federal court juries, whistleblower claims before Department of Labor administrative law judges, and labor disputes before arbitration panels and National Labor Relations Board administrative law judges. I also have secured injunctive relief in state courts to enjoin unlawful employee activity during labor strikes. I was selected by peers for inclusion in the latest edition of The Best Lawyers in America (24th edition) for both employment and traditional labor law. I have extensive experience defending employers who are accused of failing to pay overtime, having represented energy producers, retailers, heavy industry, hospitals, banks, and pharmaceutical manufacturers in wage and hour class actions. I taught Trial Advocacy as an adjunct professor at the University of Pittsburgh School of Law, and frequently speak at CLE seminars regarding issues that are important to employers.
