Cynthia Borrelli

Member Cynthia Borrelli directs the firm’s Insurance Law practice group. Her insurance practice is dedicated primarily to matters affecting corporate regulatory and enforcement aspects of insurance law. The scope of her practice comprises a broad range of client engagements relating to property-casualty and life, annuity and health, managed care, disability insurance and reinsurance matters. She works closely with attorneys in the firm’s Taxation, Executive Compensation & Employee Benefits, and Workers’ Compensation practice groups on issues relating to employee benefits and executive compensation, ERISA welfare benefit plans (including insurance funding mechanisms for health and pension plans and plan design), agent disputes, workers’ compensation benefits, and related issues. She also chairs the firm's Diversity Committee. Ms. Borrelli has published and lectured on insurance-related topics frequently before national organizations and served as Co-Chair of the 1999 and 2009 ABA Insurer Insolvency and Run-Off Seminars. She has authored articles on insurer insolvency and guaranty funds, individual health reform, managed care regulation, implementation of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, insurer withdrawal, life insurance and annuity product development and sales practice issues, as well as multiple employer welfare arrangements and broker compensation and disclosure issues. Ms. Borrelli is an active participant in NAIC matters, has served as Chair of the Public Regulation of Insurance Law Committee of the Tort and Insurance Practice Section of the ABA, and as Vice-Chair of the Life Insurance Law Committee. Ms. Borrelli serves on the Board of Directors of the Federation of Regulatory Counsel. She is a former Legal Committee member of NOLHGA, a current member of the Legal Committee of the NCIGF, a member of the FDCC, the Association of Professional Insurance Women and the NJ Chapter of Risk Insurance Management Society.
