About Dan Viets
Dan Viets has represented people charged with non-violent, victimless offenses, primarily marijuana law violations, for more than 30 years. He is a past president of the Missouri Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and has received numerous awards and recognitions, including the Atticus Finch Award from the MACDL and the NORML Lifetime Achievement Award. He has also been given the NORML Al Horn Award and the “Keeping the Dream Alive” Award from the Martin Luther King Association. He was the first chair of the Columbia Human Rights Commission and President of the Student Body at the University of Missouri in Columbia. Dan represents people charged with offenses in federal, state and municipal courts throughout the state of Missouri. He has appeared in every circuit court in the state of Missouri, every federal court in the state of Missouri, and has won appeals in all three of the Missouri Courts of Appeals; Eastern, Western, and Southern Divisions, and in the Missouri Supreme Court, as well as numerous jury trials in state and federal courts.
