Lori Jodoin

LORI A. JODOIN is an experienced employment litigator who represents individuals in the litigation of workplace-related claims and the analysis, negotiation, and enforcement of complex employment, compensation, and separation agreements. She was invited to become a partner in the law firm of Rodgers, Powers & Schwartz LLP in 2008, where her recent successes include defeating summary judgment in a Title VII case filed in the United States District Court for the District of Massachusetts, achieving confidential settlements resolving matters of pregnancy discrimination in the legal, sales, and delivery services sectors and where she co-counseled, to successful resolution, a difficult and vicious case of anti-Semitism. Ms. Jodoin brings efficiency, judgment, and empathy to achieve excellent results. A strong advocate for privacy rights, Ms. Jodoin represented an employee who was fired because he smoked cigarettes at home, away from work. This case received nation-wide attention in the media, including a cover story in Businessweek magazine. Along with her co-counsel, Harvey Schwartz, Ms. Jodoin argued in this case that employers do not have the right to control legal conduct of their employees outside of the workplace. Attorneys Schwartz and Jodoin have also challenged the constitutionality of a federal statute that bars men who failed to register with the Selective Service System from Executive Branch federal employment. Her vigorous representation of employees led to her being named a “Rising Star” by Super Lawyers in 2009 and in 2010 for her emerging reputation in ending discrimination on the basis of race, age, gender, national origin, religion, sexual orientation, disability, and pregnancy, as well as representing employees terminated as a result of retaliation or other protected conduct. A 2002 graduate of Northeastern University School of Law, Ms. Jodoin is a member of the Massachusetts Bar and the United States District Court Bar for Massachusetts.
