About Chuck Newland

I have been practicing law for over 35 years. My practice started out with a focus in tort litigation having worked as a law clerk for the nationally renowned personal injury attorney, Leonard Ring, through law school. At Leonard Ring's office I gained tremendous litigation, trial preparation and appeals experience in high profile, multimillion dollar personal injury, medical malpractice, railroad, product liability and aviation disaster cases. After working for Leonard Ring and graduating from the UIC, John Marshall Law School with Highest Distinction, I worked on the defense side for one of Chicago's largest firms, Ross & Hardies, for 3 years. As an associate attorney at Ross & Hardies my practice focused on casualty defense litigation for railroads such as Norfolk Western, Norfolk Southern, Union Pacific, Conrail and Northeast Illinois Regional RR, known as METRA, in Federal Employer Liability Act and crossing accident cases. In addition, I litigated product liability and commercial litigation matters. I started my own firm in April of 1991, sharing office space with several suburban transactional attorneys in Northbrook Illinois. There, I continued to hone my skills in various areas of litigation including personal injury, business litigation, probate, bankruptcy and even some divorce cases. At the same time I learned the transactional side of practicing law from my suite-mates in areas of real estate, estate planning, corporate organization and business transactions. At the present time my firm's practice areas are concentrated in probate and trust administration with an emphasis on contested estates and trusts, business litigation and estate planning. Serving as a guardian ad litem (GAL) in adult guardianship matters has been one of my most rewarding roles as an attorney. Given my experience, and having recovered millions of dollars in compensation through settlement or jury verdict, I continue to represent clients for personal injury matters on a selective basis.
