Lori Deem

LORI L. DEEM is a Shareholder at Hughes, Socol, Piers, Resnick & Dym, Ltd. in Chicago, Illinois where she represents executives and employees in employment matters in all forums, including federal or state court, governmental agencies and ADR settings. Ms. Deem primarily represents executives and individual employees in a variety of employment-related matters, including employment discrimination, retaliatory discharge (including whistleblower claims under Sarbanes-Oxley Act/Dodd Frank), as well as drafting and negotiation of employment contracts, separation agreements, and non-compete agreements. She regularly advises and represents executives in all types of job transition, non-competition and employment matters.From 2008 through 2012, she was recognized each year as a “Rising Star” by Illinois Super Lawyers, recognizing the top 2.5 percent of young attorneys in Illinois. Since the fall of 2012, Ms. Deem has been recognized as a Super Lawyer by Illinois Super Lawyers and as a Leading Lawyer by Leading Lawyers Magazine. Since 2024, she has been named one of the Top 50 Women Attorneys in Illinois by Illinois Super Lawyers. Since 2025, she has been ranked on of the Top 100 Attorneys in Illinois (across all practice areas) by Illinois Super Lawyers Magazine.Ms. Deem is currently serving as an Employee Council Member (2025-29) of the Labor & Employment (LEL) Section of the American Bar Association. She is a LEL Council Liaison to the Section’s Railway and Airline Committee and to the Outreach to New and Young Lawyers Committee. Ms. Deem is a former Co-Chair of the Employment Rights and Responsibilities of the LEL Section of the ABA and she is an alumnus of the ABA Labor & Employment Section’s Leadership Development Program. Ms. Deem is also a member of the Illinois Chapter of the National Employment Lawyers Association, the Chicago Bar Association and the Illinois State Bar Association. She is a frequent speaker and writer on various employment law topics.
