About Paul Weltlich
In 1996, Paul became a practicing attorney with Lawrence, Kamin, Saunders & Uhlenhop, LLC, where he eventually became Senior Litigation Counsel. At Lawrence Kamin, Paul worked on cases which included claims for employment discrimination and harassment, breach of contract, personal injury and product liability, as well as securities arbitration proceedings before the Financial Industry Regulatory Association (FINRA). In 1998, Paul successfully argued for the Appellant-employee in the Title VII employment discrimination case of Smith v. Sheriff of Cook County, 189 F.3d 529 (7th Cir. 1999), rehearing and rehearing en banc denied, 1999 U.S. App. LEXIS 32583 (Dec. 13, 1999), obtaining a reversal of the trial court decision and setting a standing Seventh Circuit precedent in sex discrimination cases. Paul also became experienced in the early resolution of cases through the process of mediation. In 2013, Paul left Lawrence Kamin and soon opened his own practice as the Law Office of Paul M. Weltlich. As an experienced litigator, Paul focuses his practice in employment law, dealing with employment discrimination and termination issues in federal and state court as well as local human rights commissions. Paul also reviews/updates employee manuals and negotiates severance agreements between employers and departing employees. Besides being an accomplished attorney, Paul continues to be passionate about sailing as well as photography, having worked as a professional photographer.
