Altom Maglio founded mctlaw in 1999 and has spent more than 25 years helping individuals take on the federal government and major corporations in complex civil litigation.Today, mctlaw operates from offices in Washington DC; Seattle, WA; and Sarasota, FL with a team that handles some of the most complex federal civil litigation in the country. Practice areas include vaccine injury claims before the U.S. Court of Federal Claims, medical product liability, federal takings, Indian law, and appellate work.Milestones include filing the first lawsuit in the United States against a manufacturer over a defective metal-on-metal hip implant (2008) and obtaining the largest judgment in the history of the Vaccine Injury Compensation Program. As Co-Chair of the American Association for Justice Vaccine Injury Litigation Group, Altom has been leading the national effort in Congress to move COVID vaccine injury claims from the CICP into the VICP, where injured patients have greater rights and protections. He has also been appointed to the Court of Federal Claims Advisory Council and served as President of the U.S. Court of Federal Claims Bar Association.Mctlaw is currently growing.
