About Thomas Dunlap
As an attorney with over two decades of experience, I bring a uniquely tactical and practical perspective to complex legal matters—shaped by a career that spans military service, entrepreneurship, prosecution, and commercial banking. My practice focuses on intellectual property, government contracts, and, increasingly, the legal dimensions of artificial intelligence. I am a former U.S. Army officer (Armor/ Cavalry) and I’m also a patent holder and the founder and former CEO of both a biotech firm and a software company. Before entering private practice, I served as a prosecutor and worked in commercial banking, experiences that continue to inform my legal strategy and client counsel. I serve as the lead contact for my firm’s multiple federal and state government contracts and represent a diverse array of clients—from Fortune 500 companies and foreign embassies to startups, inventors, and local businesses. In addition to my legal practice, I remain deeply engaged in academia. I teach seminars on artificial intelligence and the law, and serve as an adjunct professor of law at Washington and Lee University and adjunct professor of engineering at Lafayette College.
