About Kristina Spitler
Kristina Keech Spitler leads the Employment Law Practice at VFN, where she and her team provide strategic legal counsel to businesses and municipalities, helping them navigate the complexities of managing their most valuable asset—their employees. With deep expertise in federal, state, and local employment regulations, Kris advises on hiring, termination, disciplinary actions, wage and hour compliance, workplace policies, discrimination claims, and other critical HR and legal matters. In addition to employment law, Kris heads the firm’s Investigations Practice, leveraging her extensive experience as a former prosecutor, litigator, and business attorney. With over 30 years in the field, she conducts complex, sensitive investigations for corporations, government agencies, boards, and committees, ensuring integrity and compliance in high-stakes situations. A highly regarded speaker and trainer, Kris is recognized for her deep knowledge of employment law. She co-founded the Prince William SHRM chapter, presents at its annual Employment Law and HR Summit, and provides thought leadership on evolving workplace legal issues. Kris’ professional excellence has earned her numerous accolades. She was recognized as one of Virginia’s "Legal Elite" in labor and employment law by Virginia Business Magazine (since 2010) and was named one of Virginia’s Most Influential Women by Virginia Lawyers Media (2009). Additionally, she received The Loy E. Harris Award from the Mayor of the City of Manassas in 2008. Kris holds a degree from the University of Virginia and earned her J.D. from the Marshall-Wythe School of Law at the College of William and Mary. After law school, she clerked for the Circuit Court Judges of the Thirty-First Judicial Circuit, gaining invaluable legal insight early in her career. Beyond her legal practice, Kris has demonstrated strong leadership in professional and civic organizations. She served as Chairman of the Board of the Prince William Chamber of Commerce (2003-2004) and was President of the Prince William Chapter of the Virginia Women Attorneys Association (2009-2010), also serving on its statewide Board of Directors. She co-chaired the task force that created Leadership Prince William Inc., participated in its 2008 class, and later served as Chairman of the Board of Regents. She also co-founded Prince William SHRM Inc., served on the Virginia SHRM State Council, and is the Immediate-Past President of the Center for the Arts. She leverages legal expertise and business acumen to help organizations confidently navigate workplace challenges.
