Experience representing hospitals and other health care providers in health care legal issues including health care regulatory issues such as Stark, Anti-Kickback, HIPAA, and HITECH; physician contracting and joint venture opportunities; and compliance issues. Significant history of assisting health care clients, among other clients, with various employment law issues, including Title VII, the Employee Retirement Income Security Act of 1974 (ERISA), the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), the Age Discrimination in Employment Act (ADEA), the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), breach of employment contracts, restrictive covenants, wrongful termination and other general employment litigation in federal and state court. Healthcare advocate supporting access to care in Virginia and nationwide, including broad access to mental health care and family health care, as well as access to care for underserved communities. Extensive experience as a journalist, writer, and editor with a substantial body of published work. Attended the University of Virginia, receiving a BA in 1999 and an MA and JD in 2008.
