Brian Scotti

Brian Scotti is a partner in the firm’s Washington, D.C. office and practices in the firm’s Employment and Commercial Litigation Practice Groups. Mr. Scotti’s employment practice focuses on the defense of discrimination and civil rights matters, including claims that arise under Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 (“Title VII”), the Americans with Disabilities Act (“ADA”), the Age Discrimination and Employment Act (“ADEA”) and the Fair Labor Standards Acts (“FLSA”). Mr. Scotti also has experience litigating the enforcement of restrictive covenants, claims for common law wrongful discharge as well as a myriad of other employment-based claims. Mr. Scotti’s commercial practice includes breach of contract, business torts as well as trade secret litigation. Over the course of his legal career, Mr. Scotti has handled a wide variety of matters in all stages of litigation including employment, professional liability defense (medical and legal malpractice), insurance coverage, product liability, general liability defense and subrogation matters. Mr. Scotti has considerable litigation and trial experience, including first chair jury trial experience, as well as representing clients in evidentiary hearings, administrative hearings, arbitrations and mediations. Prior to joining Gordon & Rees LLP, Mr. Scotti practiced with a premier plaintiff’s side employment firm in Northern Virginia where he successfully tried several matters to verdict in state and federal court. Practicing on the plaintiff’s side gave Mr. Scotti unique insight into litigating employment disputes from the plaintiff’s perspective that now serves his corporate clients well. Mr. Scotti also practiced at one of Virginia’s largest and most historic law firms where he focused on commercial litigation and professional liability defense, representing large corporations and professionals in malpractice claims.
