About Catherine Canadé
I help couples and families separate and divorce and resolve issues of custody and child support outside of the court system. I am a collaborative attorney and family and divorce mediator serving clients from Manhattan and Brooklyn to the North Fork/ Eastern Suffolk County on Long Island. I also serve as a consulting and review attorney for couples going through the mediation process and mediate and draft prenups, postnups and parenting plans, including in the LGBTQ community.I am on the Board of Directors of the New York Association of Collaborative Professionals, and serve on their Nominations Committee and co chair the Streamlined Collaborative Working Group. I am a past President and Vice President of the Family and Divorce Mediation Council of Greater New York. I am an active member of the LGBTQI Collaborative Professionals, the New York State Council of Divorce Mediators and was a founding member of the Long Island Collaborative Divorce Professionals and the National Association of Divorce Professions Brooklyn chapter. I mediated for many years as part of the Custody and Visitation Mediation Panel of the NYC Family Courts and am a certified mediator and mentor at the New York Peace Institute where I trained and coached new mediators and helped establish their Parenting Mediation Program. For several years I served as a consultant for the Hunter College High School Bias and Dispute Panel, for which I conducted mediation trainings for staff and students. I also offer my services as a mediator, consulting attorney and mentor to trainee mediators "low bono" to Family Kind, a wonderful not for profit organization helping separating and divorcing families with a wide array of needed services.
