About Marisa Boysen
Marisa Boysen is a born and raised Floridian. After college she began her training to become a lawyer at Florida Coastal School of Law in Jacksonville. She graduated Florida Coastal with a concentration in litigation and won an award for Best Plaintiff Team in Florida Coastal's Second Annual Oral Advocacy Tournament, for Civil Dispute Resolution II in April of 1998 a moot competition. She passed the bar and became a member of the Florida Bar in April 2002. Knowing that her focus would always be litigation, she applied for and was hired by the Public Defenders Office in Collier County by then Public Defender Robert Jacobs. Starting in misdemeanor, handling first appearances, Baker Acts, violations of probation, trials, and appeals, she worked her way up to felony, handling trafficking cases, sex cases, gun cases including 10-20-Life. In September of 2011 Attorney Boysen filed a motion to suppress a recording in a sex case, which was denied. After a grueling trial, a jury convicted her client. An appeal followed, which traveled all the way up to the Florida Supreme Court (appeal was handled by another local attorney.) The Florida Supreme Court ruled in favor of her client. Ultimately legislature changed the statute on wiretapping. In 2017 a client was held no bond with a Nebbia hold in Lee County Florida. She objected to the hold, and filed a writ to the 2nd DCA, arguing that Nebbia holds are not allowed under State court, only Federal court. The 2nd DCA agreed, and the client was given a bond. Nebbia holds are no longer used or allowed in State court. Attorney Boysen works hard and can assist with any criminal defense matter. She also contracts to assist on Civil Rights Violation cases in Federal or State Court. She is a member of the Middle District, the Florida Bar, and FACDL.
