About Erik Child
Mr. Child is a senior trial attorney and partner at Child & Jackson Personal Injury Lawyers. Mr. Child has been trying cases for over 23 years, having won dozens of successful verdicts with only two losses (both slip and fall cases). Mr. Child began his legal career as a litigation clerk at Beyer, Pongratz and Rosen, APLC., while he attended law school at McGeorge School of Law. Mr. Child started litigating as an attorney immediately upon graduation, completing his first successful trial within a year and becoming a partner in the firm shortly thereafter. Mr. Child's initial practice was in general civil litigation with an emphasis on complex business litigation, construction litigation, employment and discrimination litigation, and personal injury and environmental litigation. In January of 2008 Mr. Child founded his own firm to focus solely on personal injury law with an emphasis on complex premises and environmental litigation. Mr. Child has actively managed and/or litigated over 9,000 cases, the vast majority of which were referrals from other attorneys and prior clients. Mr. Child practices in both federal and state courts, and as been retained as Pro Hac Vice trial and appellate counsel in multiple other states, including Utah, Nevada, Oregon, Arizona and Florida. Mr. Child has a state wide practice, routinely practicing in over 20+ different counties at any given time. Mr. Child has extensive experience in all stages of litigation, including initial pleadings, law and motion, discovery, jury trials, bench trials, binding arbitrations, mediations, federal ALJ hearings, and state and federal appeals. Mr. Child is a an ADR volunteer settlement attorney for El Dorado County Superior Court. Mr. Child is happily married and proud father of nine wonderful children. He enjoys scuba diving, fishing, travelling, music, serving in his church, and spending time with his children.
