About Lisa Murray

I received my license to practice law in California in 1987 and in Hawaii in 2001. I have practiced family law since 1989, assisting families through the difficult divorce process, assisting recently engaged couples craft informed and customized Premarital Agreements. I serve the family law community as a mediator, Collaborative Practice lawyer, assisting clients with negotiated settlements and as a child advocate representing children in divorce cases. I volunteer with various community-based organizations participating in programs which provide low cost legal assistance to individuals. My focus on Collaborative Practice, mediation and negotiated settlement was borne from my experience of the destructive manner in which litigation separates the lives of parents and children. I am a member of the Mediator’s Roundtable which is a forum for attorney-mediators to discuss with one another the methodology and current trends in mediation. I have served as co-chair of the Family Law Section of the San Mateo County Bar Association, and as co-chair of the Children's Issues Committee - Bay Area, a Subcommittee of the Family Law Section of the California State Bar. As a member of Collaborative Practice of San Mateo County, I have served as President, chair of the Public Education Committee, co-chair of the Membership Committee, as an active member of the training and retreat committees, and as a trainer. I am active in Collaborative Practice San Francisco serving on the board and the International Academy of Collaborative Professionals. I serve on the Northern California Public Education Committee of Collaborative Practice California. In 2009 I was honored with a Eureka Award by Collaborative Practice California for “significant contributions and demonstration of abiding dedication to establishing and sustaining Collaborative Practice in California.” I have been named a Northern California Super Lawyer from 2006 though 2022, and have had a Martindale Hubble AV rating since 2004.
