About John Whittemore

I handle all aspects of civil litigation, including appeals, with an emphasis on business, real estate, and trust and estate litigation. In addition to my litigation experience, I advise individuals, businesses, officers, and employees in contract-based controversies, employment matters, and pre-litigation dispute resolution. My experience includes the representation of plaintiffs and defendants in matters involving claims including: quiet title, declaratory relief, fraud, negligent and intentional misrepresentation, unfair competition, breach of contract, breach of fiduciary duty, fraudulent transfer, cancellation of written instrument, premises liability, negligence, nuisance, and claims under Business and Professions Code Section 17200. I'm admitted to practice law in California and the Central and Southern Federal Districts of California, and am a member of the American Bar Association, the San Diego County Bar Association, the San Diego County Bar Association, the La Jolla Bar Association, and the Tom Homann Law Association. Prior to joining BKF, I was a judicial extern for Retired Associate Justice Patricia D. Benke of the California Court of Appeal, Fourth Appellate District. Following my first year in law school, I was a participant in the San Diego County Bar Association’s Diversity Fellowship Program. I received his law degree from the University of San Diego School of Law (J.D., magna cum laude, 2015) and was elected to the Order of the Coif, an honor society for law graduates in the top 10 percent of their graduating class. During law school, I was a member of the San Diego Law Review and the Appellate Moot Court Executive Board, and competed twice in Washington, D.C.-based moot court tournaments. Obtained my undergraduate degree from the University of California, San Diego (B.A., cum laude, 2010), where I served as President of the international law fraternity, Phi Alpha Delta.
