Michael Camunez

I am President and CEO of Monarch Global Strategies, a binational advisory firm providing C-suite strategic counsel on cross-border growth, government engagement, supply chains, and geopolitical risk across the United States, Mexico, and North America. Over more than three decades spanning business, law, public policy, and cross-border strategy, I have advised senior leaders and institutions facing complex strategic, political, and commercial challenges. My career has included senior roles in the White House and the U.S. Department of Commerce, where I developed a deep understanding of how public policy, regulation, and geopolitics shape markets, investment, and corporate strategy. I am particularly known for my work on North America and the U.S.-Mexico relationship. In government, I helped shape U.S. trade, investment, and economic policy toward Mexico and served as a principal architect of the U.S.-Mexico High Level Economic Dialogue. Today, I advise companies, boards, and investors on cross-border growth, supply chains, trade and investment dynamics, geopolitical risk, and the strategic implications of policy change. I also bring 8 years of public company and institutional board experience as an independent director and trustee of major public companies and nonprofit institutions, including Edison International and Southern California Edison, Capital Group’s American Funds, Amplify Education, Inc., Stanford University, and the David & Lucile Packard Foundation. That work has deepened my focus on strategy, governance, risk oversight, institutional stewardship, innovation, sustainability, and long-term value creation. I am also a frequent speaker and media commentator on global trade, international economics, and the U.S.-Mexico relationship. Bloomberg named me one of the 100 most influential Latinos in the world in 2022, and in 2025 the National Association of Corporate Directors recognized me as one of the Top 100 Corporate Directors. I am fluent in Spanish and hold a J.D. from Stanford Law School and an A.B. in Government from Harvard University.
