About John Nordin

I am a graduate of the California State University at San Diego (B.A.), the University of California, Hastings College of the Law (J.D.), and Pepperdine University, School of Law (LL.M.). I have served as a law school administrator, an adjunct professor, a partner in various law firms, a trial attorney in state and federal courts, an Assistant U.S. Attorney, and Assistant Chief of the Civil Division of the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Central District of California. I evaluated other U.S. Attorney’s offices on behalf of the DOJ’s Evaluation and Review Staff, I taught at the DOJ’s National Advocacy Center and at federal law enforcement training academies, and I taught the management of critical incidents to state and local agencies on behalf of the Office of Domestic Preparedness. I have investigated and defended claims of misconduct by federal law enforcement officers throughout the country pursuant to appointments as a Special Attorney to the Attorney General. My primary professional interest is in Federal Constitutional litigation and defending federal agents involved in Bivens cases alleging the use of unreasonable, deadly force. I retired from the DOJ in 2017 with 34 years of service, and since then I have been representing members of the Federal Law Enforcement Officers Association.
