Represents a plaintiff asserting representative claims relating to the misclassification of insurance agents as independent contractors Represented a class of 3,200 California policyholders alleging that defendants fraudulently marketed life insurance policies as retirement investments. Successfully settled the matter for cash payments totaling $2.8 million. Served as co-lead counsel for policyholders alleging that defendant life insurance company had deceptively marketed annuities: obtained certification of a nationwide class; and successfully negotiated a settlement with a total value in excess of $60 million. Insurance Recovery Actions Represents individuals asserting personal injury claims against a manufacturer of medical devices in a multi-party interpleader action brought by the manufacturer’s insurer. Represented a policyholder, the owner of a commercial building, in a suit against its insurer. Obtained for the policyholder a complete defense and payment of the full policy limits to settle wrongful death claims brought against him. Represented a manufacturer seeking coverage for product liability claims. Sued multiple primary insurers and obtained a complete defense, including the appointment of independent Cumis counsel.
