About Justin Sceva

Labor and Employment Attorney representing California Public Entities and nonprofit employers. Extensive experience in labor negotiations and advice, employee relations advice including discipline, investigations, grievances, and representation of clients in administrative proceedings before PERB. Skilled in Legal Advice, Legal Research and Writing, California Labor Law and California Public Sector Labor Law. After gaining my undergraduate degree from Reed College and initially pursuing an academic degree at the Institute for Buddhist Studies/Graduate Theological Union, I shifted focus and obtained my J.D. from the University of California, Hastings College of the Law. Since graduating and becoming a member of the California Bar in 2001, my career has focused on representing Public Sector and Nonprofit management, with an emphasis on employee relations and traditional labor concerns. I began my career as an attorney in private practice, and am proud to say I was a founding Associate with Renne Sloan Holtzman Sakai (RSHS), a unique law firm focusing on matters involving public entities and the public interest. I then moved for a number of years to working "in house" for public sector employers, first as a Deputy County Counsel and then as a "front line" labor relations professional for a large public sector medical system. Most recently, since June 2013 I have once again been working as an attorney with RSHS, where I now hold the position of "Of Counsel."
