About Buck Johnson
Buck Johnson is a former assistant district attorney in Dallas County where he prosecuted hundreds of cases ranging from DWI to capital murder. His criminal law career began in the Dallas County criminal courts where he handled hundreds of cases such as possession of marijuana, driving with a suspended license, prostitution, public lewdness, indecent exposure, assault, and DWI. After only three months on the job, Buck was promoted to chief misdemeanor prosecutor and served in that role in both County Criminal Court #3 and County Criminal Court #8. As chief, Buck prosecuted hundreds of DWI cases and assisted in the training of beginning prosecutors. In a short time, Buck had established himself as one of the most respected attorneys in the courthouse. After serving as a chief for nearly a year, Buck was again promoted, this time to the Felony Trial Division. There he learned the ins and outs of prosecuting crimes ranging from felony DWI to capital murder. After only 16 months as an assistant district attorney, Buck was assigned a murder case, which he tried to a jury and won. Buck's final assignment as a prosecutor was in the Organized Crime Division, also known as "drug court." It was here that Buck gained invaluable insight into the prosecution of drug related offenses. Buck prosecuted and tried cases ranging from possession to delivery of multiple kilograms of drugs such as cocaine, heroin and methamphetamine. While in drug court, Buck never lost a jury trial. Buck resigned from the Dallas County District Attorney's Office in January 2009 to begin defending citizens accused of the same crimes he once prosecuted. In his first few months as a criminal defense lawyer, Buck won his first trial and secured several dismissals for his clients. He is trained and qualified in the administration of the same standardized field sobriety tests used by officers investigating DWI cases.
