About Jared Krueger
While at Tanoury, Nauts, McKinney & Garbarino I prepared legal documents and performed vast amounts of legal research on a wide array of health care related cases. The research included going through medical records, charting nurses notes. making calls to prosthetic companies and finding and making appointments with experts. I was also allowed to prepare legal documents under the supervision of an attorney. At the Health Advocacy Clinic, the work that I did a majority of was sorting through whether a case was strong enough for us to take. This consisted of going through the paperwork that the clients brought into the clinic and making phone calls to doctors and medical personnel to verify what the client was saying. This work also had me deciding if we should take the case. During my time at Northern Illinois University I wrote several legal memos and performed a large amount of research using resources, such as; Westlaw, LexisNexis and Bloomberg. I am also well acquainted with the bluebook method of citation. One of the classes that I did best in my first year as a law student was Basic Legal Research, and research is still a strong point of mine today, whether it be on Lexis Nexis, Westlaw or a free service. In addition, I enrolled in Advanced Legal Research to improve my skills even further. My accomplishments in my first year in law school and high school include: *NIU Professionalism & Ethics Society – President *NIU Student Bar Association - Representative (elected position) *NIU Study Abroad – French Civil Code and European Union Law *International Baccalaureate (IB) Degree from High School – This degree is based on an international curriculum. My written exams were sent to and evaluated by professors in different countries. My degree in the program was based on their evaluation and approval. Attaining a degree in this program gave me a semesters worth of credit in college. *People to People Program - This program exposed our group to diverse cultures – in my case our group studied in Belgium, France, Ireland, the Netherlands, and the United Kingdom.
