About Stephen Conover
I help lawyers and law firms practice law for their clients without unnecessary ethical risks. I regularly represent lawyers, law firms, and in-house legal departments in Connecticut in defense of grievance complaints. I advise local and national law firms on malpractice prevention and assist clients on sensitive ethics, professional responsibility, and business matters. I represent lawyers in fee disputes, conflicts, confidentiality and privilege, and professional disciplinary issues. In addition, I provide guidance to law firms with their partnership agreements, partner departures, lateral hires, licensing and ethics compliance. In 2007, I completed 11 years of service as Court-appointed Grievance Counsel involved with the investigation and prosecution of lawyer grievance proceedings. I now regularly defend lawyers facing Grievance Complaints filed with Connecticut’s Statewide Grievance Committee. In addition, I represent clients in complex commercial & construction disputes in State and Federal Courts and in arbitration, mediation, and administrative hearings. I am active in the Connecticut Bar Association as an elected member of its Board of Governors, and as a member of the Professional Ethics Committee, Profession Discipline Committee, and the Standing Committee on Professionalism.
