About Theanna Bezney
I am an Employment Attorney with experience in: - defending against civil charges by current and former employees, including claims of illegal discrimination, harassment, hostile work environment, and wage claims; - representing employers in investigations by and proceedings before the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, National Labor Relations Board, Department of Labor, and Texas Workforce Commission; - mediating, arbitrating, and litigating breaches of contract, including violations of non-competition agreements, as well as claims involving breach of fiduciary duties and employee misclassification; - negotiating and drafting employment agreements, including non-competition restrictive covenants; and - advising companies on drafting and revising employee handbooks and policies. Previously, I was a student at the University of Texas School of Law, where I served as an editor of the school's oldest law journal, the American Journal of Criminal Law. I also served as a Summer Intern for Judge Lawrence Meyers at the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals, the state's highest court for criminal cases. I also spent a semester at the University of London studying international labor and human rights laws. Prior to practicing law, I worked for several years as an accountant. My experience in the corporate world gives me a unique insight into day-to-day business operations and the challenges business leaders face on a regular basis.
